Welcome to the International Leadership and Business Program!

On Sunday morning, as 84 excited business interns arrived at Georgetown University, the atmosphere filled with energy and enthusiasm. This day marked the beginning of a transformative journey, where friendships would be formed, knowledge would be gained, and lives would be changed by these youth.

After settling into their dorms, interns attended a keynote speaker with the rest of the programs, where they met the Leadership Initiatives’ Executive Director, Marshall Bailly; the International Leadership and Business Director, Jessica Bailly; and Leadership Initiative’’s Country Director, Umar Muhammad. Marshall Bailly provided an overview of the expectations, general schedule, and introduced other key figures vital to interns’ success. Jessica Bailly then went over the business specific schedule, teams, as well as mentors and assignments. The discussions about the business project and the impact interns would be making got them pumped for the rest of the week!

The excitement continued into the evening as the interns explored Washington DC’s classic National Mall. They visited the Lincoln Monument, World War II Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, where they were able to explore the nation’s capital and gain a deeper appreciation for the development of the United States. During this time, interns were also able to bond with their teams, team leads, and other interns.

After the monument tour, the interns returned to campus to relax. Interns were able to walk to shops around campus, such as Insomnia Cookies, Taichi Bubble Tea, Thomas Sweets, and the gym. This not only helped the interns feel more connected with each other and the staff, but also helped Georgetown feel more like home.

As the first day of the International Leadership and Business Internship came to an end, the interns headed back to their dorms to rest up for the first full day ahead of them. The start on Sunday reflected the interns’ commitment to learning, growth, and making a positive impact on a global scale. With a week full of opportunities and experiences ahead, Sunday provided the base for the life changing journey that would shape the interns’ futures and the world around them.
