Welcome to the Criminal Law & Trial Internship!

Upon arriving at the picturesque campus of Georgetown University on a sunny Sunday morning, the interns were welcomed by the enthusiastic staff members of Leadership Initiatives, eager to meet them and help with their check-in process. Each intern received their very own LI program T-Shirt and an LI drawstring bag filled with all necessary supplies for the week.

After completing their registration, the interns were given time to settle into their dorms and start bonding with their roommate for the upcoming week! Following this, they went on a tour of the Georgetown campus, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the various locations where they would be working and exploring throughout the week ahead.

Once the interns were rested and familiar with their way around campus, all program participants convened for an introductory session where they received an overview of Leadership Initiatives. This session included essential information and rules applicable to all LI programs, setting a solid foundation for the interns' experiences and activities during their time at Georgetown University.

After their introduction to Leadership Initiatives, the interns enjoyed a delicious dinner and had a chance to socialize and relax briefly before the next item on the day's agenda. They then had the privilege of listening to Keynote speaker Brandi Harden. Brandi Harden is the attorney that the interns will be working with during their time at LI. She is widely recognized as a prominent litigator and serves as the Managing Partner of Harden|Law, PLLC, the firm partnering with LI for this program.

Once Brandi finished with her inspiring speech, interns had the chance to meet their team leads for the week and get to know each other with some fun icebreakers and introductions! These teams will be the interns’ home base for the week, and their fellow team members can become some of their closest friends during the program. Team leads also helped answer any questions that the interns had so that everyone is on the same page and ready for the week ahead!

For their final activity of the day, the interns got to leave campus and go on a sunset tour of the monuments. They saw the Franklin Delano Roosevelt memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. memorial, and a beautiful view of the Washington Monument while walking along the Potomac - and of course, they took plenty of pictures along the way!

Once we arrived back at the dorms, interns had some downtime to get to know each other in the common room lounges and wind down before bed check. A perfect end to another exciting and eventful day at Leadership Initiatives!
