Today began with a crucial second security partner call with Borno State University and RAMAT Polytechnic. This collaboration is part of the interns ongoing efforts to develop comprehensive security protocol projects. During the call, the interns asked questions and engaged in meaningful conversation to dive deeper into the unique challenges each institution faces and exchanged valuable insights. The discussions were productive and enabled the interns to formulate several actionable steps to enhance their security strategies.
Following the security partner call, the interns attended an OPSEC (Operational Security) training lecture led by the esteemed Lynee Clark. The session was highly informative, covering essential topics such as threat assessment, risk management, and secure communication practices. Lynee’s expertise and engaging presentation style made complex concepts accessible and relevant. The interns left the lecture with a deeper appreciation for the nuances of operational security and a set of practical tools to apply in their respective security protocol projects.
After, the interns heard from Gina Bennett on “Hunter Gatherer.” In national security, intelligence officers have been described as “hunters” of intelligence, combining intelligence and operational function to adapt to demanding environments. This information that the interns were gathering will become a crucial part to their development on national security and intelligence. In contrast to the previous model of intelligence gathering, where officers would simply gather information, analyze it, and then decide what to do with it.
Today’s agenda was a perfect blend of strategic discussions, expert training, and engaging activities. Each session contributed to the interns professional development in general and in regards to their final security protocol projects.
